Youth Classes

 

Acting Out! (Ages 6-8)  

January 20 – March 9 | Saturdays 10:30am-12:00pm | $145.00  

8 weeks  

In this class we embrace fun and create some serious play! Students will grow confidence and connect to their peers through theatrical games and exercises. They will spend a portion of each class learning what it means to be an actor on stage by working on an adaptation of a classic children’s story.  

Drama Club (Ages 9-12)

January 23 – March 19* | Tuesdays 3:00-4:30pm | $145.00

Whether your student is new to the stage or old hat, this is a special place for their creativity to the stage! At drama club participants will grow confidence to find their voice and collaborate with peers in a supportive environment. We cover the basics of character, improv and story in order to foster a sense of purpose and play. Over 8 weeks students will prepare a short, scripted play to be presented at the Theatre Academy Showcase in March.

*Note: No class March 12th

Sing Out Loud with Anat Kriger 

January 18 – March 21* | Thursdays 3:00-5:00pm | $190.00  

Does your young actor dream of Broadway? Then Sing Out Loud is the class for them! Over 8 weeks actors will learn the dynamic world of musical theatre by combining story, character, movement and music all together on stage. Students will present their work at the Theatre Academy Showcase in March. All experience levels are welcome.  

*Note: No class on March 7th & 14th  

Unarmed Stage Combat for Beginners (Ages 14+) 

April 6 | 1:00-4:00pm | $50.00  

Budding actors of every experience level can join us for an unparalleled acting lesson: the essentials of unarmed stage combat.   

Learn the basic skills of stage combat in order to safely and effectively execute unarmed techniques that are commonly required in theatrical productions. Students will learn the basics of safety and how to break down pre-set choreography and physical techniques. The discipline of stage combat builds confidence and encourages respect for participants and their partners. Ages 14 and up are welcome, youth and adult participants will be matched with appropriately aged partners. 

FATA Youth Ensemble (Ages 13-17)  

January 17 – March 20* | Wednesdays 3:00-5:00pm |$190.00  

Is your teen actor looking to bring their performance skill to the next level?   

Over 8 weeks new and returning actors will delve into ensemble training and creation in a supportive and fun space. This course will guide students through individual growth and ensemble building, culminating in a creation of their choosing to be performed at the Theatre Academy Showcase. Students in this class find a warm and supportive community that will grow with them.  

*Note: No class February 14th or March 13th 

Adult Classes

 

Actor’s Studio with Jenn Priddle (18+ up)  

January 14 – Mar 3 | Sundays 6:00-8:00pm | $200.00 ($175.00) 

Join local director and instructor Jenn Priddle for an 8-week class to deepen your acting process. Through scene study and character work, students will build up their technical capacity while deepening their connection to scene partners. Participants will have the opportunity to share their work during the 2024 Open Stage Festival at The Bauer.  

Musical Theatre with Anat Kriger 

March 21 – April 25 | Thursdays 6:00-8:00pm | $200.00 ($175.00) 

Take the stage and sing your heart out! During this 6-week course you’ll explore what it feels like to embrace the world of musical theatre while strengthening your skills as an actor so you can express yourself like never before! This class welcomes Adults at every experience level. 

Anat Kriger is an actress, singer and songwriter.  Upon graduating from Randolph College for The Performing Arts, she has been working on her own original music and was part of different Theatre projects in Canada. 

Auditioning and Acting with Ron Jenkins 

February 18th | 10:00-6:00pm | $100.00 ($80.00) 

Join award winning writer, actor and director, Ron Jenkins, for a full day intensive to whip your audition skills into shape!  

Whether you’re experienced or new to theatre, every actor must audition. Ron will take students through tried-and-true techniques to improve your audition prep and practice. The weekend will also include various acting techniques that will grow your confidence on stage with new acting tools.

 Lighting Workshop  

Feb 25 | 1:00-4:00pm | $50.00 ($40.00) 

Join FAST Production Manager, Ingrid Risk to familiarize yourself with the process of theatrical lighting.

This hands-on workshop will give students the opportunity to learn the tools of the trade and get their hands on the equipment that operates lights. Whether you’re a seasoned lighting board operator or just getting started you will learn something new in this workshop! Suitable for participants aged 14 and up. 

Play Reading Club 

Fridays | February 9, March 1, April 5 | 7:00-9:00pm  

Join us once a month for Play Reading Club! New and experienced theatre enthusiasts are welcome as we foster our love for theatre in a fun, casual environment. Each month a new play will be read by actors at random from our group, followed by a discussion of the play, led by Kate Basile. There is no fee for attending, however sign-up is required on a first-come basis.
