GLORIOUS!
A Comedy by Peter Quilter
Opens September 9, 2009

This glorious comedy is based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the legendary New York heiress who wanted to be a great operatic diva despite having one of the worst singing voices in history. What she hears in her head is beautiful and it never occurs to her that the sound issuing from her mouth is something quite different. We first meet Florence interviewing a pianist who has to decide if he’ll continue playing in restaurants or compromise his musicality and link up with this fascinating but decidedly unmusical lady. Her charm wins him over and the affectionate warmth of this blissfully funny hit play has had the same effect on sell-out audiences across Canada and in London’s West End.

Glorious! plays:

GEOMETRY IN VENICE
A Drama by Michael MacKenzie
Opens September 8, 2009

The Moreens, an expatriate British couple, prominent in middle-class Venetian society circa 1880, hire a young Canadian, Mr. Pemberton, as a tutor for their 13 year-old son, Morgan. Also, as a good prospect for their daughter, Amy, they encourage the acquaintance of an eligible American, the emerging novelist, Mr. Henry James. Falling under the spell of the precociously gifted Morgan, Pemberton soon finds himself at the centre of a web of deceit and family intrigue. Montreal playwright, Michael MacKenzie, bases his play on The Pupil, a short story by Henry James, and weaves from its subtle portrait of social hypocrisy an emotive and erotic drama.

Geometry in Venice plays:
